Mumbai: Tata Technologies on Monday reported 9.8 per cent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 170.28 crore for the first quarter (Q1) of FY26, compared to Rs 188.87 crore in the previous quarter (Q4 FY25).  The company’s revenue from operations also slipped, falling 3.2 per cent QoQ and 1.9 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 1,244 crore in Q1 FY26, according to its stock exchange filing. The decline was largely driven by a weak performance in both of its core segments — services and technology solutions. Revenue from the services segment dropped 5.9 per cent sequentially and 2.2 per cent YoY to Rs 963 crore, while the technology solutions segment also declined 3.2 per cent QoQ and 1.9 per cent YoY to Rs 280 crore. On the operating front, EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) stood at Rs 201 crore — reflecting a 14.3 per cent drop from the previous quarter and a 13.4 per cent decline from the same period previous year. The EBITDA margin also narrowed to 16.1 per cent, down from 18.2 per cent in the previous quarter. Despite the weak quarter, CEO and MD Warren Harris remained positive about the outlook. He said that client confidence improved as the quarter progressed, leading to six strategic deal wins. He expressed optimism about a sequential recovery in the second quarter and a stronger performance in the second half of FY26. “Our deal pipeline today is more robust than a year ago, and the early momentum we are seeing gives us greater visibility and conviction for the rest of the year,” Harris added. However, the company announced its earnings after market hours on Monday, shares closed at Rs 713.9, up by Rs 5.1 or 0.72 per cent on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

YouTube Monetization New Rules: YouTube has some big news for budding content creators and influencers. The Google-owned platform is rolling out an update aimed at identifying mass-produced or repetitive content that doesn’t meet the authenticity standards of its YouTube Partner Program (YPP), according to its support page. The online video-sharing platform has announced new monetization rules under the YPP, which will take effect on July 15, 2025. This move comes in response to a surge in faceless, AI-generated channels that prioritize quantity over quality. Meanwhile, separate guidance on YouTube’s help pages confirms that creators must be at least 16 years old to stream alone. YouTube Monetization Rules     To qualify for YouTube monetization, creators still need 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 public watch hours in the past year or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. But now, just meeting these numbers is not enough. YouTube says content must also be original and authentic. This update helps reviewers better spot spam or low-effort, AI-generated videos. Creators making tutorials and vlogs should avoid using existing clips or text-to-speech narration. If they rely too much on AI-generated content, they could lose monetization. Moreover, the channels that post reactions, compilations, or clips are still allowed—but simply reusing content or using AI tools won’t qualify. Creators must add their own meaningful and original input to their videos.  Notably, the core eligibility thresholds on YouTube remain consistent. Hence, the new changes aim to bring back an era where creators stand out for being authentic, trustworthy, and driven by genuine passion for their craft.  

YouTube Trending Page Retirement: YouTube has announced that it will discontinue its long-standing Trending Page nearly 10 years after its initial launch in 2015 to highlight viral hits, breaking news and top music releases. The Google-owned platform announced the decision in a blog post, citing diminished user interest in the feature. The “Trending Now” section and the Trending Page will both be available until July 21 before being permanently deleted. YouTube Trending Page Feature  The feature, which was first created to show off worldwide viral content in real-time, has seen a decline in usage in recent years. “YouTube has evolved significantly over the past 10 years, and so has the way users discover and consume content,” the company stated in its announcement. YouTube is moving its emphasis to category-specific charts under the YouTube Charts section, replacing the general Trending section. With more categories anticipated to be added soon, users can now peruse carefully curated lists like Trending Music Videos, Weekly Top Podcasts, and Trending Movie Trailers. For more individualised discovery, the company also encouraged users to peruse content through the channels of individual creators, the subscriptions feed, and the Explore Page. The Google-owned video sharing platform highlighted the increasing significance of its algorithmic suggestions, which present well-liked videos based on each user’s viewing preferences and past viewing activity.
