IRCTC New App For Ticket Booking: IRCTC has introduced a new ticket booking app called ‘SwaRail’, now available in early access for both Android and iOS users. The app offers a range of features including train journey planning, live train tracking, PNR status checks, food ordering, and more. It is developed in India by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the SwaRail app brings multiple Indian Railways services together on a single digital platform. While it’s currently in early access, users can continue using the existing IRCTC app for booking train tickets.  How To Book Tickets On SwaRail App By IRCTC?  Step 1: Download the SwaRail app and log in using your existing IRCTC credentials or create a new account. Step 2: On the home screen, tap ‘Journey Planner’ and select the ‘Reserved’ option to book confirmed train tickets. X (Formerly Twitter) Down: The Elon Musk-owned social media platform X experienced a global outage on Saturday, affecting users in India as well. Many were unable to log in or load new posts during the disruption. Thousands of users faced difficulties accessing X (formerly Twitter) due to a widespread outage, according to outage monitoring platform Downdetector. Many reported issues with the app, website, and login page. About 41% of users said they couldn’t log in, while another 41% experienced problems with the app itself. Adding further, 18% reported issues with the website. This marks the second outage in less than 24 hours. On Friday, X suffered a major disruption that left millions unable to access the platform. In India, several users also reported being unable to load the website. Globally, over 5,000 users flagged problems on Downdetector. The company has yet to disclose the cause of the outage. X (Formerly Twitter) Engineering said in a post that they were aware of the incident and the team was constantly working on the issue. “X is aware some of our users are experiencing performance issues on the platform today. We are experiencing a data centre outage and the team is actively working to remediate the issue,” it posted. In March, Musk said a massive cyber-attack hit his X social media platform, that disabled millions of users across the globe, including in India, from accessing the popular platform. The X platform went down in a massive global outage as users were unable to access the micro-blogging platform. “We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing…,” said the billionaire in a post. “There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X,” he said, adding that it is an attempt to silence him and his platform. New Delhi: Even if the United States were to impose a 25% tariff on iPhones manufactured in India, the total production cost would still be much lower compared to manufacturing the devices in the U.S., according to a report by the Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI). This comes amid a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump, threatening to impose 25 per cent tariffs on iPhones if Apple decides to make them in India. However, the GTRI report shows that manufacturing in India remains cost-effective, despite such duties. The report breaks down the current value chain of a USD 1,000 iPhone, which involves contributions from over a dozen countries. Apple retains the largest share of the value—about USD 450 per device—through its brand, software, and design. It also adds that U.S. component makers such as Qualcomm and Broadcom contribute USD 80, while Taiwan contributes USD 150 through chip manufacturing. South Korea adds USD 90 via OLED screens and memory chips, and Japan supplies components worth USD 85, mainly through camera systems. Germany, Vietnam, and Malaysia account for another USD 45 through smaller parts. GTRI states that China and India, despite being major players in iPhone assembly, earn only around USD 30 per device. This is less than 3 per cent of the total retail price of an iPhone. The report argues that manufacturing iPhones in India is still economically viable even if a 25 per cent tariff is applied. This is mainly due to the sharp difference in labour costs between India and the U.S. In India, assembly workers earn approximately USD 230 per month, while in U.S. states like California, labour costs can soar to around USD 2,900 per month due to minimum wage laws—a 13-fold increase. As a result, assembling an iPhone in India costs about USD 30, while the same process in the U.S. would cost around USD 390. In addition, Apple benefits from the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for iPhone manufacturing in India, offered by the government. If Apple were to shift production to the U.S., its profit per iPhone could fall drastically from USD 450 to just USD 60, unless retail prices are significantly increased.
